EAGLE SCOUT CANDIDATE TO BUILD VETERANS MEMORIAL IN MARLBOROUGH, NH
Troop 14 Boy Scouts of America Life Scout Wyatt Switzer is working toward earning the Eagle Scout rank, and he invites help to give back to veterans in the community. He started scouting in Marlborough, NH when he first joined as a Cub Scout as part of Pack 14, which is sponsored by American Legion Post 24. After successfully attaining the Arrow of Light he then moved onto to join Boy Scouts with Troop 14 in Marlborough, NH.
He’s working to give back to the veterans who have given so much to the community and to his scouting experience by building a veteran’s war memorial near the town pavilion off of Fitch Court in Marlborough, NH. It will consist of a brick and granite 12’ x 12’ patio along with a 25’ nautical flag pole. This will provide members of the community and veterans with an accessible memorial but also the beneficiary organization American Legion Post 24 a meaningful place to host events such as Flag Day and part of the Memorial Day parade route.
The veterans in the community have played a role in his success in his Boy Scout career but also recently sponsored him so he could attend Boy’s State. As Wyatt recently stated “while their efforts can never be fully repaid, my Eagle Project is a small token of appreciation for the American Legion and local veterans that have had a positive impact over the years on me and other scouts in Troop 14.”
Wyatt will be having a “buy a brick” fundraiser where businesses and community members can put a special message on the bricks or pavers, which will help make up the patio at the memorial.
